Two Sold-Out Theatre Debuts: Majesty Bring Queen to Woking and Glasgow

Some shows leave you with more than great memories. They give you a moment to look at how far the band has travelled—and a new sense of what might come next.

For Majesty – A Tribute to Queen, two nights in 2022 have done exactly that: our first performances at Woking’s New Victoria Theatre and Glasgow’s King’s Theatre. Two ATG venues, two sold-out debuts, and two audiences who helped make this a memorable chapter in our touring story.

Queen Tribute band Majesty - Live at Sold Out Show at Woking's New Victoria Theatre 2022

Majesty had already been performing in theatres for several years. Taking the music of Queen on the road, meeting audiences and developing the production had become a huge part of our lives. But securing these bookings—and then selling out both shows—felt like a significant step forward.

It was an affirmation of the work that had brought Majesty to this point. Standing on those stages, with audiences ready to share the evening with us, gave us a real sense that the show had earned its place on a bigger theatre circuit.

A Sold-Out Debut at New Victoria Theatre, Woking

Our first of the two dates brought Majesty to the New Victoria Theatre in Woking, Surrey, on 16 April 2022.

A debut carries its own excitement. You are bringing the production into a new venue, meeting its audience and discovering how the room responds to the show. Having a sold-out house waiting for us made this first visit particularly special.

Queen’s music gives us a wonderful starting point, but every audience makes the evening its own. The people in front of you bring their memories, their favourite songs and their enthusiasm. Our job is to meet that energy with the vocals, musicianship and showmanship the music deserves.

The photograph (above) we took with the Woking audience captures a little of what that night meant to us: the four of us at the front of the stage, with smiling faces and raised hands stretching back through the auditorium.

It is a picture we are proud to have in the Majesty album. Even better are the audience videos from the night - like this one from Linda.

A Young Freddie Joins the Encore

One of our favourite memories from Woking belongs to a young audience member called Stanley.

Stanley had arrived in a great Freddie Mercury costume. That would have been enough to catch our attention, but he also had the moves and mannerisms to go with it.

During the encores, we invited him onto the stage. As Rob sang, Stanley moved and performed like Freddie, becoming part of the show himself.

For a few moments, our Queen tribute show had an extra Freddie—and Stanley made the most of his opportunity.

Among the comments shared afterwards, Shelley N Matt Turner wrote:

“Well done Majesty for encouraging little Stanley and letting him be a part of your show.”

Angela McNair also sent “a big thank you from Stanley”.

Those messages mean a lot. A sold-out theatre is a milestone for the band, but an experience like Stanley’s is a reminder of the individual memories being made within that crowd.

What the Woking Audience Said

The response after the show was lovely to read, with audience members sharing their photographs and telling us about their evening.

Dave Bartley wrote:

“Great show. Awesome to meet you guys absolutely brilliant evening”

Katherine Melnyk praised the whole band and Rob’s Freddie-inspired performance:

“Brilliant show. The band are amazing, and ‘Freddie’ was just superb”

Other comments described a fantastic night out and an audience keen to find another Majesty date. Seeing people enjoy the performance and then want to come back is one of the most encouraging responses a touring band can receive.

Thank you, Woking, for making our New Victoria Theatre debut such a special night.

Majesty Sell Out Glasgow’s King’s Theatre

On 7 October 2022, the next chapter took us north to the King’s Theatre in Glasgow, Scotland.

Our second ATG show brought another sold-out debut, this time in a very different setting. The King’s Theatre’s ornate auditorium provided a spectacular backdrop for a night celebrating Queen.

Our audience photograph shows the view from the stage: the band in the foreground, the crowd behind us, and the theatre’s balconies rising towards its beautifully decorated ceiling.

It captures both the character of the venue and the people who made the performance such a great gig.

For us, Glasgow made the significance of these first two bookings even clearer. Woking had been a proud debut in April. To follow it with another sold-out first visit in October gave us a powerful sense of momentum.

Glasgow’s Audience Makes Its Voice Heard

The comments following Glasgow told their own story.

Karin Mills wrote:

“Absolutely fantastic show would definitely recommend it and if in Glasgow again I'll be there”

Lynne Ann had shared the night with her family:

“Fantastic night in Glasgow with my teenage daughters - they loved it. Thank you”

Tina Richardson described her first experience of seeing Majesty at the King’s Theatre:

“You guys were phenomenal”

Others spoke about meeting the band, spotting themselves in the audience footage and hoping we would return to Glasgow.

We love seeing those different experiences side by side. Some people arrive already knowing the show; others are discovering Majesty for the first time. Families and friends come together, and Queen’s music gives everyone something to share.

Glasgow gave us an evening we will remember with enormous affection.

What These Two Nights Mean to Majesty

There is a lot of work behind any theatre performance, and the significance of a booking often stretches well beyond the date in the diary.

For Majesty, securing our first two ATG shows felt like recognition of the production we had spent years developing. Selling out both made that recognition feel tangible.

We had been building our theatre experience for some time, but these nights gave us a new confidence in Majesty’s place among the UK’s established touring Queen tribute shows.

That confidence comes with a responsibility to keep giving audiences a performance worthy of their evening: powerful live music, care for the songs and the sense of occasion that Queen’s catalogue deserves.

Woking and Glasgow have given us plenty to be proud of. They have also given us more reasons to keep working on the show.

Thank You, Woking and Glasgow

To everyone who joined us at the New Victoria Theatre and the King’s Theatre: thank you.

Thank you for buying tickets, bringing your friends and families, sharing photographs, leaving comments and making our first visits so memorable.

A special thank-you goes to Stanley for bringing his own Freddie magic to the Woking encore.

These two sold-out debuts have become important moments in Majesty’s story. We are delighted to have shared them with you.
