Queen have the honour of being the first featured band in The Royal Mint's latest coin collection series - Music Legends. This new collection pays tribute to different bands and artists whose styles and sounds defined the passing decades, all of which have been perfectly captured in the coin designs.
Designed by Chris Facey, Product Manager at The Royal Mint, the coin features the iconic instruments of Queen:
Brian May’s Red Special Guitar
John Deacon’s Fender Precision Bass
Roger Taylor’s Ludwig™ Bass Drum
Freddie Mercury’s Bechstein™ Grand Piano
Those with a keen eye will note that the opening notes of "Bohemian Rhapsody " is pressed down on Freddie's Piano!
The coins are available in Gold Proof, Silver Proof and Standard £5 Brilliant Uncirculated.
The standard uncirculated coin is also available in three limited edition slipcases
