The UK's Official Charts was the creation of Percy Dickins, who as the advertising manager of the 'New Music Express', decided that a method was required to encourage more subscribers to the music paper. So, in November of 1952, Dickins compiled the first aggregated chart based on sales figures obtained by telephoning retailer friends and adding up the sales of the week's biggest sellers.
Since then, the music industry has seen numerous changes in how people consume their music, and thus the Official Charts continues to develop new strategies as the consumer trends change.
Queen has certainly been no stranger to the UK's Official Charts; they have seen all but one of their forty-eight UK singles, released between 1973 and 1998, enter into the Official Charts, with thirty-seven securing a Top 20 position.
Queen managed to secure four number 1s, most notably, the Christmas number 1 of 1975 and 1991 with 'Bohemian Rhapsody'. Their other number 1 singles are 'Under Pressure' and 'Innuendo'. The re-release of 'Bohemian Rhapsody' in 1991, following the death of Freddie Mercury, also featured 'These Are The Days Of Our Lives" as the double A-sided single.
This week's quiz concentrates on the Queen singles that did not secure a Top 20 within the UK's Official Singles Chart.
