The BRIT Certified Platinum, Gold & Silver Awards are given out to popular singles and albums based on sales and streaming volumes tracked by the UK Official Charts Company.
The thresholds for The BRIT Certified Awards are under constant review to ensure that they remain relevant in a music landscape that is fast being reshaped by streaming.
The current thresholds are:
Singles
Platinum = 600,000 units
Gold = 400,000 units
Silver = 200,000 units
Albums
Platinum = 300,000 units
Gold = 100,000 units
Silver = 60,000 units
Breakthrough = Artist's debut album achieves 30,000 units
Recordings can also attain multiple certifications (e.g 10 x Platinum)
