Roger Taylor's “Man On Fire” was released in the UK on the 4th of June 1984.
This song is about a man's struggle to find work to earn an income to enable him to make future plans with his partner. He feels as though he is trapped in his life and “feels like a man on fire or possessed, wanting to burn down the town”. However, he learns that the power of his partner's love keeps him going; he therefore sometimes has to stop and wonder why.
The video was banned by MTV in America due to a sequence in which a little girl in a burning building is not seen to escape. An alternative edit does not show the little girl at all.
