🎤 Celebrating 50 Years of A Night at the Opera

It’s hard to believe that half a century has passed since Queen released their groundbreaking fourth album, “A Night at the Opera.”

It was released in November 1975, and at that point, Queen were at a critical point in their career; despite having two Top 10 albums already, the band were still in financial trouble and under pressure to deliver a breakthrough. They poured everything into this record—time, money, experimentation, and sheer creative ambition.

The album hit the UK charts in December 1975, and quickly rose to Number 1 on the Official UK Albums Chart, becoming one of the band’s most enduring masterpieces.

With its ambitious production, genre‑blending creativity, and sheer theatrical flair, it remains a defining moment not just for Queen, but for rock music as a whole.

Recorded across multiple studios between August and November 1975, the album pushed the limits of what was technically possible at the time.

Its eclectic mix—ranging from hard rock and ballads to vaudeville, opera, and even a bit of music‑hall whimsy—showcases Queen at their most inventive.

Of course, it also gave the world “Bohemian Rhapsody ”, a single that redefined what a rock song could be and became a cultural phenomenon in its own right.

To celebrate this milestone, we’ve put together a fun lyrics quiz based on five tracks from the album.

Your challenge? 👉 Identify the correct order of the given lyric lines for each selected song.
